Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil

The Sunflower, or Helianthus annus, is a plant of the Asteraceae family. It is native to the Americas and the Inca population already used it 3,000 years ago for its beneficial properties. Sunflower oil is obtained by cold pressing the seeds of the plant itself.

Features and benefits

Sunflower oil is rich in carotenoids, waxes and lecithin. It is an oil commonly used in cooking, but in reality we can see its many properties also in the cosmetic field:

ANTIOXIDANT, PROTECTIVE : the content of vitamin E, or tocopherol, in sunflower oil is higher than that found in other vegetable oils such as sweet almond or olive oils. Being an excellent antioxidant, it plays a primary role in protecting cell membranes and against free radicals responsible for skin aging.

ELASTICIZING, NOURISHING : in cosmetics, the use of this oil is recommended for dry, dehydrated skin. It acts as a skin cell regenerator, being emollient and smoothing.
